real jobs

Real Jobs was set up in 1992 and helps people in Edinburgh and Midlothian with learning disabilities to get a paid job.

At Real Jobs you can get your own Employment Worker who will help you at every stage of getting a job.

Your Employment Worker will talk to you about your skills and abilities. This information will make up your own Vocational Profile. This will help you identify the best job for you.

We can provide you with a full benefits assessment. This will help us make sure that you are better off in work. You may even be entitled to some benefits you didn’t know about: our Welfare Rights Advice Team can help you.

We will provide a typed CV and Personal Profile to help you sell your skills and abilities to prospective employers. You can practice your interview skills beforehand and get support during the interview.

We will help you with your Job Search to find work that suits you. We will contact employers on your behalf and help with job applications.

Not everyone has worked before and it can take time to learn new tasks. We can work alongside you to help you learn the job at your own pace. We can also help you with travelling to and from work, until you know the route.

Even when you are settled in your job we will keep in touch with you. We will be available if a problem comes up. If you lose or want to change your job, we can help you.
