The Action Group’s Housing Support Service assists people with a range of different needs to have valued and independent lives by supporting them to maintain their own tenancies.

The support we provide to individuals is tailored to their particular needs. This can range from one hour to 24 hours per day.

Housing Support Services offers an extensive menu of support services from which to choose. These can be changed and altered to reflect our clients’ changing needs.

Housing Support Services can assist with:

General support such as paying bills, healthy living, looking after clients’ homes and developing their skills.

Specific assistance such as helping clients’ deal with their mail, helping with house repairs and improvements, accessing other services.

Advice in dealing with benefits, housing security, health and safety, and how to change living accommodation.

General counselling and assistance in maintaining contact with friends and family and also listening to clients, and helping them to have the lives they want.

Housing support service supporting people in theirown tenancies

In May 2004 Heather, Claudia, Jennifer, Christopher and Bill, who had previously shared a house and support in Edinburgh moved to three brand new flats in the city.

Support is provided to each person whether they live on their own or share - they can choose what they want support for and live much more independently than previously.

Heather said: "The staff have helped me to live the life I want."
